Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – TikTok Shop in the United States (US) has implemented a new policy regarding platform commissions charged to sellers. So far, the platform commission has been set at 2% plus US$ 0.30 per transaction.
However, in the future, TikTok Shop sellers in the US will have to pay an 8% commission for the majority of goods sold on e-commerce.
This increase will be carried out in stages, according to The Information report. On April 1 2024, commissions will increase by 6%. Then starting July 1 2024, the increase will reach 8%.
However, this increase does not apply to all products. Relatively more expensive categories of goods such as electronic goods will be charged a lower commission.
The commission determination is actually still lower than that set by Amazon, quoted from Techco. TikTok also implemented reduced subsidies, except for high-selling products.
So, what is the fate of TikTok Shop sellers in Indonesia? A spokesperson for TikTok Indonesia said the US policy would not be implemented in Indonesia.
