Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The major chosen during college is not always the result of the student's interests. Not a few people regret the major they took during college.
ZipRecruiter, through a special survey, noted that there are several college major choices that graduates regret the most. This survey was conducted on 1,500 university graduates who were looking for work.
ZipRecruiter's principal economist, Sinem Buber, said that the survey also revealed the phenomenon that when students admitted that they regretted choosing a major during college, they were actually interested in the chosen field.
However, this regret arises when they graduate from the college major they have completed, because they are faced with the reality of salaries for jobs related to that major.
“When we graduate, reality will come. When you can barely pay your bills, your salary may become more important,” said Buper, quoted by CNBC International.
The following is a complete list of majors that students regret after graduating:
1. Journalism (87%)
2. Sociology (72%)
3. Arts (72%)
4. Communication (64%)
5. Education (61%)
6. Marketing and Research Management (60%)
7. Medical Companion (56%)
8. Political Science and Government (56%)
9. Biology (52%)
10. English Literature (52%)
