Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Deputy Chairman of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Eddy Soeparmo revealed that his party had agreed on a budget for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of IDR 9.38 trillion.
What is interesting is that the allocation for the New and Renewable Energy (EBT) sector in Indonesia reached IDR 940 billion in the midst of Indonesia which is pursuing an energy transition. “(The EBT budget) is approximately IDR 940 billion. In my opinion, it actually needs to be bigger because it will show our support for the energy transition,” said Eddy when met at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Thursday (13/6/2024).
Even though the budget allocated for EBT is relatively low, Eddy emphasized that the energy transition in Indonesia must continue
“This does not mean that in its implementation, because the business actors carrying out the energy transition, in this case PT PLN or PT Pertamina, does not mean they cannot allocate a larger budget to carry out this energy transition,” he explained.
As is known, Commission VII DPR and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources agreed on the indicative budget ceiling for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for 2025 to reach IDR 9.38 trillion lower than 2024. This decision will be finalized at a Working Meeting (Raker) with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources next week.
Eddy explained that the largest budget from the budget ceiling would be allocated for the oil and natural gas (oil and gas) sector amounting to IDR 4 trillion. The reason is for the development of gas infrastructure, specifically the Cirebon-Semarang gas pipeline network and the Dumai-Sei Mangke gas pipeline.
