Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that a number of districts/cities in Indonesia will experience extreme weather in the next week.
These areas are categorized as potential floods when extreme weather is predicted to hit the majority of Indonesia.
BMKG reported this in its Weather Prospects for the Week Ahead 6-12 February.
BMKG urges the public to remain alert and careful about the potential for extreme weather (tornado, heavy rain accompanied by lightning, hail, etc.).
Apart from that, there are also impacts that can be caused, such as floods, landslides, flash floods, puddles, strong winds, fallen trees and slippery roads in the next week in certain areas.
The following areas have the potential for extreme weather according to BMKG predictions, including:
February 6-7
North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Kep. Bangka Belitung, Lampung, Banten, West Java, DKI Jakarta, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara;
West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
February 8-9
Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Kep. Bangka Belitung, Lampung, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, NTT, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
