Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding preparations for Eid al-Fitr and Eid at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/1/2024).
One thing the government will prepare is development rest area on the way home.
“Reporting on the progress of handling several projects or programs in preparation for the Eid al-Fitr holiday, one of which is the construction of a rest area at kilometer 97, (Toll) Jakarta – Merak,” said Muhadjir to journalists, Tuesday (16/1/2024).
According to Muhadjir, the rest area will later be used as a buffer zone to anticipate traffic density on the toll road.
Then, the preparations made were widening the road towards the Anchor Harbor in Situbondo, and implementing the Situbondo – Lombok ferry route.
“Later, there will be no need to cross via Bali, so from Situbondo you can go straight to Lombok. That will also make crossing from Gilimanuk Ketapang or vice versa easier,” explained Muhadjir.
However, until now there has been no calculation of the surge in homecoming travelers that will occur during this year's Eid holiday.
“Not yet, but it will definitely increase compared to last year,” he said.
As is known, the month of Ramadan this year is expected to fall in the second week of March 2024. According to the Hijri calendar, the Eid al-Fitr holiday is estimated to fall on April 10 2024 or April 11 2024, but this depends on the results of the Isbat session held by the government ahead of the determination of 1 Ramadhan and 1 Shawwal Eid Al-Fitr.
