Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Japan is one of the countries in Asia which is a favorite destination for world tourists. Sakura Country not only offers beautiful nature, but also culture and culinary delights that are popular with people around the world.
The good news is that Indonesian citizens can enter Japan without a visa, but of course there are a number of terms and conditions that must be met.
Indonesian citizens must have an electronic passport (e-passport) which was launched by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in 2011. Reporting from the official website of the Directorate General of Immigration, Indonesian e-passports have a chip that stores biometric data. In this way, e-passport holders can pass through autogate at airports that provide this facility.

One of the advantages of using an Indonesian e-passport is visa-free entry to Japan through the Visa Waiver program. According to the Yogyakarta Immigration Office website, the Japanese Visa Waiver is a program that allows travelers to enter Sakura Country without applying for a visa.
“Indonesian citizens (WNI) are required to have an electronic passport in order to obtain this type of visa,” wrote the Yogyakarta Immigration Office.
Quoting from the page of the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia, visa-free for Indonesian e-passport holders is valid for a maximum visit of 15 days
“If you plan to stay more than 15 days or aim to work in Japan, you must apply for a VISA by following the applicable regulations,” emphasized the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia.
“Indonesian citizens holding passports other than e-passports still need a visa to enter Japan,” the statement continued.
