Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The state-owned toll road operator company, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. (JSMR) estimates that the peak return flow for the Christmas and New Year 2024 (Nataru) holidays will occur on Monday, January 1 2024.
Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head Jasa Marga Lisye Octaviana said, the majority of vehicles returning to Jakarta Bogor Depok Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabotabek) will come from the East (Trans Java direction) which is predicted to reach 140 thousand vehicles.
“A 28% increase from the peak of the 2022/2023 Christmas homecoming flow (110 thousand vehicles),” said a written statement received, Sunday (31/12).
According to him, the total number of vehicles that will return to Jabodetabek during the Christmas holiday this time is predicted to reach 240 thousand vehicles or an increase of 19% compared to Nataru 2022/2023 and an increase of 75% compared to normal traffic.
This amount is the cumulative traffic flow from four Barrier/Main GTs, namely Cikupa GT (from Merak direction), Ciawi GT (from Puncak direction), Cikampek Utama GT (from Trans Java direction) and Kalihurip Utama GT (from Bandung direction) .
“Previously, Jasa Marga recorded 1.9 million vehicles leaving the Jabotabek area during the 2023 Christmas Holidays (18 to 28 December 2023). This number increased by 25% compared to normal traffic (1.5 million vehicles) in the same period. When compared “By the Christmas 2022 period, the total traffic volume will increase by 7% (1.79 million vehicles),” he explained.
Lisye revealed that the location point that is the focus of attention to be anticipated is KM 66 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road or the meeting point for vehicles from Bandung and Cikampek to Jakarta.
Apart from that, he continued, there is potential for congestion at several locations on the Trans Java toll road from Semarang to Jakarta, especially at traffic node intersections, arterial road exits and several rest area locations. So, Jasa Marga is collaborating with the Police and other authorized agencies to carry out traffic engineering to anticipate congestion at this location.
Lisye also appealed to road users, especially those using the Trans Java Toll Road, to be able to schedule their journey back to Jabotabek so that it is more comfortable and does not pile up on dates that are predicted to be the peak of reverse flow and in order to maintain travel time from Semarang to Jakarta, which is less than 7 hours or an average speed of 60 to 70 km/hour.
“Avoid going home at the same time on Monday and Tuesday, January 1 and 2 2024,” he stressed.
For road users who are still given leeway to continue their homecoming period, they can shift their trip to a choice of Saturday-Sunday, 30-31 December 2023 or Wednesday, 3 January 2024.
Especially on Wednesday, January 3 2024, road users can also take advantage of the 10% toll rate discount which will apply on the Trans Java Toll Road for continuous return journeys from Semarang to Jakarta (GT Kalikangkung to GT Cikampek Utama).
He also said that Jasa Marga and other Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) managing the Trans Java Semarang to Jakarta Toll Road will again apply a 10% tariff discount on January 3 2024.
“The hours when the tariff discount applies are from 00.00 WIB to 24.00 WIB, or valid for 24 hours, and applies to all vehicle classes,” he said.
The amount of the toll rate discount of 10% for the rate for continuous return journeys from Semarang to Jakarta, only from Kalikangkung GT to Cikampek Utama GT) is as follows:
– Class I vehicles: From Rp. 408,500 to Rp. 367,650, reduced rate of Rp. 40,850

– Class IV and V vehicles: From Rp. 830,500 to Rp. 747,450, reduced rate of Rp. 83,050.
Jasa Marga appeals to toll road users to anticipate travel during the 2023/2024 Christmas holiday period well.
“Before entering the toll road, make sure the vehicle and driver are in top condition, continue to comply with health protocols (wearing a mask) when in the rest area, ensure sufficient fuel and electronic money balances and obey the signs and directions of officers in the field,” he concluded.
