Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi revealed that tens of thousands of phishing content under the guise of online gambling had infiltrated the websites of educational and government institutions. Phishing is a digital crime or fraud that targets victims' sensitive information or data.
“In educational institutions there was 14,823 online gambling content infiltrating there and in government institutions there were 17,001 findings of content infiltrating or phishing onto government sites and educational institutions,” said Budi Arie after a Limited Meeting on the Online Gambling Task Force at the Presidential Palace, Wednesday, quoted on Sunday (26/ 5/2024).
Budi further explained that his party has now taken various precautions and blocked online gambling content. There is at least 1,904,246 online gambling content.

Including monitoring from digital platforms, we saw that 20,241 gambling keywords changed on Google and 2,637 on the Meta digital platform.
Meanwhile, from the Financial Services Authority, Budi explained that he had also blocked 5,364 accounts affiliated with online gambling, and 555 e-wallets that had been submitted to Bank Indonesia for closure.
Meanwhile, in the last month, from the last meeting regarding online gambling on April 19, the party has blocked 290,850 online gambling content. And 300 e-wallet account blocking.
