Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – If someone says business ideas can come from anywhere, it doesn't seem like an exaggeration. Because this was also experienced by a woman named Tatiek Indah Purwanti Handayani. It started with him having difficulty preparing healthy food without MSG for his family, because he was busy working as a health worker, Tatiek then had the idea to create a chicken and duck business called Umm Ayya.
The name Umm Ayya itself is taken from the child's name and means Ayya's mother. This business is located in Tengengwetan, Kec. Siwalan, Kab. Pekalongan, Central Java.
“This food can be stored for a long time, and if you want to serve it, just fry it, grill it, cook it in stews, opor and so on, without needing a long time. Apparently, many friends are curious about the chicken and duck ungkep I make. They try ordering it and apparently they like it “From there I then opened the Ummu Ayya business in November 2016,” said Tatiek in a written statement quoted on Saturday (13/4/2024).
Tatiek admitted that his business needed adequate equipment, so he finally decided to seek a business capital loan through KUR BRI.
“To make quality and hygienic frozen chicken and ducks, you need special equipment that is not cheap. My husband and I, who started this business together, finally decided to borrow BRI KUR in stages in 2017,” he said.
This capital is used to buy quality vacuum equipment, freezer, as well as buying raw materials. With these facilities, from previously only selling 3 birds/pack alone, now Umm Ayya can have hundreds or even thousands of heads/pack every month.
Furthermore, Tatiek explained that in the beginning his business was carried out in his home kitchen. However, as Umm Ayya's business developed, Tatiek then set up his own production house and hired several employees.
Ummu Ayya products have the advantage of not having the 5P chemical additives, namely preservatives, chewing dyes, sweeteners and artificial chemical flavors (MSG). Even so, the taste is still delicious and savory. Each pack contains one chicken and a duck in the package frozen which can last up to 6 months of storage. The quality is even more guaranteed, because Ummu Ayya products have MD BPOM distribution permits and halal certificates.
“Umm Ayya can sell around 35 birds a day.pack fried chicken and duck frozen. However, sales can reach thousands of heads/pack during the month of Ramadan and before Eid like now. In fact, there are several customers who also order as hampers Eid. Meanwhile, in terms of turnover, Umu Ayya can earn IDR 30 million to IDR 40 million per month. Turnover “This could increase 4-5 times in the month of Ramadan,” explained Tatiek again.
Apart from Duck and Ungkep Chicken as its main products, Umm Ayya also sells Ungkep Broiler Chicken, Ungkep City Chicken, and Chicken Crispy. The price for Ungkep Chicken per pack/head starts from IDR 40 thousand and for Ungkep Duck starts from IDR 75 thousand. All sold in packaging frozen.
Even without the addition of MSG, Tatiek guarantees that now Umm Ayya has selected 70 agents and resellers spread across several districts in Central Java, such as Pekalongan, Batang, Pemalang, Brebes, Tegal, Semarang, then there are also agents and resellers in Yogyakarta, Bandung, Jakarta and others.
Tatiek hopes that in the future his business will receive support from training and business assistance, as well as marketing assistance on a wider scale, so that Umm Ayya will continue to develop and its products will be enjoyed by more customers outside Central Java.
BRI Micro Business Director Supari said that apart from providing capital support for MSME players, BRI also continues to provide assistance to customers in product development and digitalization efforts for MSME players.
“Ms. Tatiek's story is an example of how the financing provided and the business assistance that BRI provides can encourage and improve the business capacity of MSMEs,” he stressed.
