Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Nastar is one of the dry cakes that is the favorite during Eid al-Fitr. This delicious cake filled with pineapple jam is always a must-have snack on the dinner table.
However, there are many assumptions that pineapple has a high calorie content. Even consuming pineapple is considered the same as a plate of rice. Is that right?
Regarding this, nutrition specialist Dr. Saptawati Bardosono said that the calories in nastar cake vary, depending on the ingredients used. However, usually one pineapple grain has 40 calories.
So, if you eat three grains it equals 120 calories. The number of calories is equivalent to a plate of rice (100 grams) which contains 130 calories.
“In one pineapple cake, there are usually 40 calories, when compared to 100 grams of rice which has 130 calories, then of course it will be the same as if we consumed around 3 pineapple cakes,” said Dr. Saptawati, quoted from CNBC Indonesia (12/ 4/2024).
“Depending on the recipe, it will produce several pineapple grains, so the total calories per recipe just need to be divided by the number of cakes produced,” he added.
Apart from nastar, Dr Saptawati said other pastries made from wheat flour, butter and sugar also have a similar number of calories to nastar.
“The calories of other Eid cakes are also similar (to nastar) because they are made from the same ingredients,” he explained.
Apart from that, he also reminded us to watch our portions when consuming such foods. Because, all foods that are delicious, tasty and make people want to continue consuming them are usually rich in calories, fat, sugar and salt.
