Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Leaks of cheap folding cellphones from Samsung are circulating on the internet. Reportedly, the next generation folding cellphone will come with a variant targeting the middle segment (mid-range).
This news came from a leaker named Roland Quandt. He found out about a number of new model numbers for devices that Samsung was preparing.
One that was found was the SM-F956 model which possibly refers to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (Q6) and SM-F741 for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 (B6). Then there is also the SM-X828 for the Galaxy Tab S10+.
Apart from that, there is one other code, namely Q6A. This code is predicted to be a member of the cheap version of the Samsung Fold family, quoted from Phone Arena, Wednesday (7/2/2024).
But there are consequences to this cheaper model, namely that the cheaper version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will not be equipped with an S Pen.
Samsung is said to be planning to release a cheap version of its foldable cellphone. Samsung's vice president of marketing, Drew Blackard, explained that the price of foldable devices will eventually fall, referring to technology that will continue to develop in the future.
However, Samsung will first focus on improving the overall user experience when testing its foldable cellphone products.
“We will focus on perfecting the user experience. As technology develops, we will see innovation and hopefully lower prices in the future,” he explained at the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, quoted from Engadget.
As an illustration, the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 foldable phones launched in Indonesia is around IDR 16 million and IDR 25 million. If it is true that there will be a cheap version, it is not clear what price it will be set at.
Previously, Samsung had released a cheap version of the premium Galaxy S series. This mid-range premium cellphone was given the FE after the product name. One of them is the Galaxy S23 FE which was priced starting at IDR 9 million when it was launched last year.
