Challenges KPU Decision, Anies' Legal Team Brings Stacks of News Files – 1 hour ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The National Legal Team (THN) Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar officially filed a legal complaint against the General Election Commission (KPU) decision Number 360/2024 concerning Determination of 2024 Election Results to the Constitutional Court (MK). The Constitutional Court has received this lawsuit with number 01-01/AP3-PRES/Pan.MK/03/2024 dated March 21 2024 at 09.02 WIB.

The AMIN Legal Team brought piles of files as evidence to strengthen the legal claim.

“There are almost 100 pages of files,” said the Head of the AMIN Legal Team, Ari Yusuf Amir, at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta, Thursday (21/3/2024).

On that occasion, Ari also said that many lawyers who supported AMIN filed a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court. However, only 190 lawyers were attached to the documents.

“We at the AMIN Legal Team consist of 33 provinces and thousands of lawyers who are members there. But because the Constitutional Court has limited space, we are registered with 190 proxies,” he said.

Not only lawyers, expert witnesses were also prepared by the AMIN Legal Team.

“Later at the trial, we will present experts and witnesses,” he added.

Ari explained that his party filed a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court because many of the KPU's decisions were considered detrimental to AMIN. For example, facilitating the registration of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as vice presidential candidate and the use of state equipment or facilities.

“The distribution of social assistance, government officials and election organizers are involved, that's what we outlined in our petition, so if this is accepted as a strong argument by the Constitutional Court, of course we hope that a revote will be held without the 2nd Vice President participating, the deputy candidate will be replaced, whoever will be replaced and “Let's fight honestly, fairly and freely,” he stressed.
