Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Black female singer from the United States (US), Beyoncé, has made history with her work, namely the album Act II: Cowboy Carter, which is currently ranked first on the Billboard country music album charts.
This made her the first black woman to top the chart since its inception in 1964.
According to Channel News Asia (CNA), the album also topped the Billboard 200 for all genres and became the eighth album at No.1.
According to industry data and analytics company Luminate, Cowboy Carter achieved a total of 407,000 equivalent album units, a combination of pure album sales and on-demand streaming gains in the US since its first week since its release on March 29, 2024.
As a black woman who revived country music, Beyoncé seems to be reversing the stereotype of the country music genre which has been associated with white people.
Meanwhile, the conversation about Beyonce's exploration of country music started when she arrived at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Beyonce, wearing full cowboy attire, made a statement without saying a word.
Then, during the Super Bowl, he released two hybrid country songs: Texas Hold 'Em and 16 Carriages, which ultimately led to the release of Cowboy Carter.
Additionally, back in February, Texas Hold 'Em was No. 1 in the rankings. 1 on the country airplay chart, making her the first black woman to top that chart as well.
